Basement drainage & waterproofing planning
Understand existing water conditions before adding a below-grade opening.
Plan Your Project ↗
Tell us what you have observed
Describe when water appears, where it collects, and whether the issue changes with rainfall or seasons. Photos and dates help distinguish water in a well from water at a wall or floor joint. A new window does not automatically resolve an existing moisture problem.
Coordinate the new well with the site
The well, drainage, roof runoff, grade, and any existing sump arrangement should be discussed together. Ask what the proposed water-management work includes and which connections or discharge arrangements require further review.
A drywell or sump solution is not interchangeable across properties. Ground conditions, elevation, local requirements, and the complete design determine what may be suitable. Avoid choosing a buried arrangement from an exterior installation photograph.
Keep access and maintenance in view
Record the intended drainage route, inspection points, maintenance access, and any separate waterproofing work. If another contractor handles that scope, agree the interface before excavation or finishing begins.
