Choose the cover with the well

A cover is selected around the installed well and its access features. Discuss dimensions, support, operating method, and how it can be released from inside. A photograph of a cover does not establish its load rating or suitability for another installation.

Access is more than a ladder

Review the route from the room through the opening, into the well, and to open ground. The ladder or steps, handholds, cover, and grate should be compatible with that sequence. Ask the team to demonstrate the actual components at handover.

A cover and drainage do different jobs

A cover may help keep leaves and weather out of the well, depending on the selected product and installation. It does not replace a site-specific drainage plan. Describe any standing water or known leaks when arranging the assessment.

For an existing system, send measurements and photos before ordering a replacement cover. Confirm the well material, shape, attachments, and operating clearance. Keep the finished well clear of stored items and landscape debris.
